With a Fine Arts and Ceramics background, Shirley Eccles ventured into Glass when she relocated from South Africa to the UK. 

‘It is the unknown possibilities and challenges of the material that drew me into exploring glass further as an Art medium.’

The fragility; the refractive and the reflective qualities; the character and moods of transparent versus opaque glass; provide the many possibilities which keep her captivated.  Her exploration of different making processes offers her a creative journey expressed through the medium of glass.

Shirley works with themes of memory and personal experiences and often combines her glass with mixed media and found objects to express her concepts.
